Тема: “ The  United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland ”

Мета:

Практична : введення нових лексичних одиниць, розвиток навичок читання/ аудіювання (сприйняття на слух  інформації з метою повного її розуміння   та використання   практиці) . Розвиток навичок  усного мовлення .  Повторення граматичного матеріалу :  дієслово  to be  в теперішньому неозначеному часі .

Розвиваюча:розвивати довготривалу пам’ять, увагу, уяву, уміння самостійно планувати мовний вчинок, вміння навчальної співпраці при виконанні колективних завдань .

Виховна: виховувати культуру спілкування, повагу до традицій іншого народу.

Освітня: розширювати знання учнів про країну, мова якої вивчається.

Соціокультурний аспект :знайомство з поняттями та реаліями  ( the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Great Britain, Britain, the British Isles ,  England, Scotland, Northern  Ireland, Wales),  з населенням Британії ( по етнічним групам ), з мовами , які розмовляють в Британії .

Обладнання: карта Великобританії, прапори та символи частин Великобританії, портрет Р. Бернса, аудіозапис вірша Р. Бернса “My Heart’s in the Highlands”, роздатковий матеріал, мультимедійна презентація, проектор , зошити та навчальні посібники .

Teacher: You’ve just heard some lines from the poem, written by R. Burns. This famous poet loved his Motherland and admired its beauty. Do you know where he was born? (Expected answer: In Scotland).Yes, he was the Scottish and wrote about Scotland. This is a part of the country we are going to speak about. Can you guess the topic of our lesson? (Expected answer: Great Britain). Look at the screen, here we have our topic. Today we are going to speak about Great Britain, about the population of this country, the languages and the national emblems of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Мовленнєва зарядка. Brainstorm.What do you imagine or picture in your mind when you think of Britain?

The best way to get to know other country is to visit it. So I propose you to make an imaginary tour to Great Britain.

Teacher: Do you know why people travel? Let’s look at the screen .

People travel to…  see new places

develop outlook

learn more about other countries

study foreign languages

meet new people

Teacher: So, during our tour we’ll see new places, learn more about Great Britain, improve our English, develop outlook.

Unfortunately we have only 2 days for visiting the UK. What means of transport should we choose? Why? (Expected answer: We should choose a plane, because it is the fastest means of transport).

ІI. Основна частина уроку.

1.     Уведення нової лексики.

Teacher: . But before we start our traveling let's pronounce proper names which will be necessary for us. Let’s look at the screen  and repeat after me : The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland , England \London , Wales \Cardiff,  Scotland \ Edinburgh, Northern Ireland \Belfast, York, Stratford-upon-Avon, Liverpool, Cambrige, Oxford.

2.     Читання ( учні знайомляться з інформацією : мультимедійна презентація, зачитують інформацію та виконують завдання  )

Teacher: It’s useful to know some facts about the country you are going to visit. On the screen  you can see 4 parts of Great Britain, their flags and emblems. Let’s read. Now let’s check , what do you remember. I’ll show you the slide, you should name the country .

Учні виконують з підручника  Вправу 2 ст ,123 у зошитах  , подивись на малюнки і утвори речення за зразком ( Look at the pictures and say as in the example).

3.     Фізкульхвилинка

Teacher:Your are tired. Let’s do our physical exercices:

Up’n down, up’n down.

Which is the way  to London town?

Where? Where?

Up in the air.    

Close your eyes-

And you are there!

4.     Перегляд фільму , робота в групах .

 Teacher: Let’s start our trip on a jet airplane. Fasten your seatbelts.

You will  watch a film “Window on Britain” .  You’ll be organized in groups of 4. Each group will get some  questions  .  You should listen very attentively and   answer these  questions . Then one of your group will present information about Great Britain.   But before we start our traveling let's pronounce the words which will be necessary for us:

 The Head of  State

countryside

fountain

 language

island

Questions:

1.     What is the official name of the country ?

2.     How many parts does Great Britain consist of ?What are they ?

3.     What are their capitals ?

4.     How many people live in the UK?

5.     Who is the Head of  State ?

6.     What are the names of other famous cities ?

7.     What is the official language of the country?

8.     Are there any national parks ?

9.     How many tourists visit the UK ?

10.                        Is  it an island country ?

Teacher: Ok, now let’s do Ex.5, p124 ( read and complete the sentences )

Учні читають по черзі речення та доповнюють їх інформацією про Британію .

5.     Усне мовлення.

Teacher: It’s time to return home. What are your impressions of our journey? Did you like it?

Imagine that you have just returned from Great Britain full of impressions. You meet your classmate who hasn’t been to this country yet. Tell him or her what you have found out , what places of interest you have visited, express your feelings.

ІІІ. Заключна частина уроку.

Teacher: What have we done at the lesson? (Expected answers:

- We have seen new places.

- We have learnt more about Great Britain.

- We have practiced our language.

- We have developed outlook….

What can you do now? (Expected answers:

- We can speak about different parts of Great Britain.

- We can work as guides in a travel agency….

2. Домашнє завдання.

 Teacher : Look at the blackboard and write down your home task  for the next lesson: exercise 3 page  123 Activity Book  (read and translate) . Learn the countries and their capitals.

            Today we have done a lot of work .
